FAQ

What is a Persian rug?

These are hand-woven rugs made in the historic region of Persia and are renowned throughout the world for their beatiful designs/motifs, high quality craftmanship and materials, and rich cultural heritage. Persian rugs are considered some of the finest and most valuable rugs to be woven.

What is the history of Persian rugs?

Persian rugs date back to over 2,500 years ago. They are deeply representative of the culture, art, and nature of the region they are created in. Historically these rugs have not only been used as a decorative piece but also as a symbol of status or prestige.

What are common colors/designs of Persian rugs?

In the tradition of hand-woven rugs, Persian rugs are named after the regions in which they are crafted. Each region has its own unique design motifs, weaving techniques, and color schemes, setting them apart from one another. Among the most popular varieties of Persian rugs are Tabriz, Heriz, Serapi, Mahal, Ferahan, Kashan, and Mashad.

What are Persian rugs commonly made of?

These rugs are crafted using high-quality wool sourced from local sheep. Artisans employ natural plant and vegetable dyes to give the wool with vibrant hues.

What is the value of a Persian rug?

Like most hand-woven rugs the value is based on rarity, age, and condition. A very rare antique piece can command a high price from collectors and enthusiasts, whereas a less rare vintage piece is more moderately priced.

How to clean a Persian rug?

We recommend vacuuming on the lowest suction setting and to vacuum on both sides.

If there is a spill you can spot clean by blotting the area with a dry cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then mix a small amount of mild soap or detergent with water and test the solution in a small area to ensure it doesn't cause discoloration. If there is none then using a sponge or cloth blot the area with the solution then blot with clean water to rinse then blot with a dry towel to absorb excess water.

For deep cleaning, we highly recommend utilizing professional services, and Jubin Rugs is the ideal choice for this. Our reputable team, with years of experience in the cleaning and repair of hand-woven rugs, ensures the highest standards of care and expertise.
