Vintage Rugs
Vintage rugs often range from twenty to seventy years in age and have usually been used in households for years before being sold as vintage pieces. Vintage pieces have a rich history and often have a patina which adds to their character and charm. They have usually been produced in various rug-weaving regions with longstanding traditions in rug production. Vintage rugs come in a wide variety of designs and styles, reflecting diverse cultural influences and traditions. Typically vintage pieces are hand-woven using natural materials and dyes including wool, silk, cotton, vegetable and insect dyes resulting in a beautiful patina as a result of aging and use. Vintage rugs are highly versatile and diverse and can compliment a wide range of interior staples from traditional to contemporary. Overall, vintage rugs are prized for their timeless beauty, craftsmanship, and ability to infuse a space with character and charm.

FAQ
What is a vintage rug?
Vintage rugs typically range from 20 to 70 years old, falling between the categories of antique and modern. While they may not possess the age of antique rugs, they still exhibit exceptional craftmanship, captivating aesthetics, and a sense of history that sets them apart from contemporary rugs.
What are vintage rugs commonly made of?
These rugs are commonly crafted using high-quality wool sourced from local sheep. Artisans employ natural plant and vegetable dyes to give the wool with vibrant hues.
What is the value of a vintage rug?
Like most hand-woven rugs the value is based on rarity, age, and condition. A very rare vintage piece can command a high price from collectors and enthusiasts, whereas a less rare piece is more moderately priced.
How do you clean a vintage rug?
We recommend vacuuming on the lowest suction setting and to vacuum on both sides.
If there is a spill you can spot clean by blotting the area with a dry cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then mix a small amount of mild soap or detergent with water and test the solution in a small area to ensure it doesn't cause discoloration. If there is none then using a sponge or cloth blot the area with the solution then blot with clean water to rinse then blot with a dry towel to absorb excess water.
For deep cleaning, we highly recommend utilizing professional services, and Jubin Rugs is the ideal choice for this. Our reputable team, with years of experience in the cleaning and repair of hand-woven rugs, ensures the highest standards of care and expertise.
