Heriz rugs are a type of Persian rug produced in the mountainous northwest region of Persia, a region situated near the major rug-weaving city of Tabriz.
These rugs can be traced to the late 19th century when demand for Persian rugs surged in Western markets. Heriz rugs gained popularity due to their unique aesthetic and durability.
A prominent central medallion surrounded by nature-inspired designs and stylized corner brackets is one of the most famous motifs in this style. The designs often feature a mix of floral and geometric patterns.
Vibrant warm reds, deep blues, earthy browns with accents of ivory, greens, and light blues.
These rugs are made with high quality wool sourced from sheep locally grazed in a region with high altitude and mineral rich water that contributes to the strength of the wool. The wool is then dyed using natural plant and vegetable dyes.
Like most rugs the value is based on rarity, age, and condition. A very rare antique piece can command a high price from collectors and enthusiasts, whereas a less rare vintage piece is more moderately priced.
We recommend vacuuming on the lowest suction setting and to vacuum on both sides.
If there is a spill you can spot clean by blotting the area with a dry cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible. Then mix a small amount of mild soap or detergent with water and test the solution in a small area to ensure it doesn't cause discoloration. If there is none then using a sponge or cloth blot the area with the solution then blot with clean water to rinse then blot with a dry towel to absorb excess water.
For deep cleaning, we highly recommend utilizing professional services, and Jubin Rugs is the ideal choice for this. Our reputable team, with years of experience in the cleaning and repair of hand-woven rugs, ensures the highest standards of care and expertise.
